Seven Steps To Master Change

Beautiful Journey Steve Maraboli said: “The beautiful journey of today can only begin when we learn to let go of yesterday.”

Yet many of us are unable to move on as we are unable to accept change. To be successful we must be able to embrace change. So the question is how do we do this?

Here are some strategies how you can deal with change:

1. Map out the possibilities
Sometimes the coming change is too complex to understand. It helps to write things down or draw them. The jumble of thoughts becomes clear on a sheet of paper. You will be surprised by the clarity this brings.

2. Determine worst-case scenarios
Once you have the possibilities written down, identify which are the ones that bother you the most. Knowing what you are specifically worried about helps a lot!

3. Create a backup plan
Can you create a back-up plan for the worst case scenarios? If you have some money socked away, for example, then you know that if a job change does not work out you have a fall back while you look for another. Once you know you have a backup plan your anxiety level should come down. Continue reading

The Best Antidepressant

Antidepressant
After two years of health club “pseudo-yoga” & two yoga weekend workshops, I found Peter & Yoga Passion. My life is different now. After three months of regular HotCore (Bikram) practice I am serene. My friends want to know what I am “on” and I say yoga. They laugh because they are not aware. I leave the door open to them to join me & see the light.

The most important change in my life is I no longer take depression medication. Through yoga & a soy-based diet I feel happier & more energized than ever before. No more steak or chicken for dinner at my house. Have gone pretty much vegetarian. The Kripalu cookbook is my bible. It feels soooooo good to eat this way. My body thanks me every morning when I wake up with energy, feeling light & aware. Thanks Peter, Bikram & all who came before you.

Forgive Us Our Trespass

Forgive Us Our TrespassA minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn’t find a space with a meter. Then he put a note under the wind-shield wiper that read:

“I have circled the block 10 times. If I don’t park here, I’ll miss my appointment. Forgive us our trespasses.”

When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note:

“I’ve circled this block for 10 years. If I don’t give you a ticket I’ll lose my job. Lead us not into temptation.”

Little Emma’s Magic Arms

Two-year-old Emma wanted to play with blocks, but a condition called arthrogryposis meant she couldn’t move her arms. So researchers at a Delaware hospital “3D printed” a durable custom exoskeleton with the tiny, lightweight parts she needed.

Emma’s story illustrates the new age of manufacturing that is dawning upon us. This new age is powered by a technology called “3D Printing”, that is printing in three dimensions. 3D printers are able to “print” custom built parts by additive processes so that an object is created by laying down successive layers of material. Unlike traditional machining techniques that work by removing material from a block, 3D printing relies on building a part by the additive process.

The medical use of this technology is mindboggling. In Emma’s case an external prothestic was built using 3D Printing. But the day is not far when one may create brand new organs to be used in transplants. This could be accomplished by using a 3D printer to build an organic, polymeric scaffolding in the shape of the organ or tissue that needs to be replicated. This is then populated with stem cells drawn from the person needing the organ, and have the organ ready for transplant in a few days once the cells have filled out the entire structure. This could be used for creating organs such as kidney, heart, lungs, etc., within a matter of days or weeks. No need to wait for donors or worry about organ rejection!
